12 choirs from the Alnwick district with over 240 singers from Alnwick and district came together with 60 children from 3 schools, to perform at the Sage Gateshead. This is the second time that the Bailiffgate Singers performed here; on the previous occasion we sang our individual pieces and together performed Rutter’s ‘Feel the Spirit’ suite.

This time we sang two pieces, Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose by Alexander L’Estrange and Magnificat by John Rutter.

The first piece, Ahoy was conducted by our own Caroline Fentiman who not only kept us in order but the children too!

The Magnificat was conducted by Peter Brown.

We had great support from the band and a wonderful soloist, Hanna- Liisa Kirchin.

Our new accompanist, Simon, was thrown in at the deep end and regaled the audience in the Ahoy with his accordion.
Many thanks to the committee who put this event together, particularly Mick Lock.
